The House Always Wins challenges the assumptions we make based on appearance, labels and the roles society gives us.

A calm figure sits with a cigarette in one hand and playing cards in the other — completely contradicting what many would expect from the way she is dressed. The image deliberately plays with those expectations, forcing us to question why we believe someone should behave a certain way simply because of how they look.

The cards represent the identities we are dealt, while “the house” represents a world that is quick to create rules, place people into boxes and decide who they are before knowing their story.

The real gamble is not on the table.

It is believing our first impression tells us everything.
